
The brief cab ride was uneventful, but the Bean remained quietly skeptical.

Arriving at school, however, the Bean had no trouble adjusting. She was quickly scooped up by one of the teachers, who held her until Mom and Dad left for work (after half an hour of putting away her belongings and talking about her likes and dislikes). For that whole time, the Bean didn't cry at all, and didn't need to be held by Mom or Dad--she just looked around, fascinated by the other kids in the room and all of the activity. Mom and Dad left for work relieved at how easily the hand off had gone, and thankful for the Bean's calm and trusting nature.
When Mom picked the Bean up at the end of the day, everything was still going well. The Bean was officially a student, having completed her first day at school! After a long, relaxing walk home, Mom, Dad and the Bean enjoyed the evening together.
